Accents for Actors

Service Description

In this class you will: • Learn the sound changes and phonetic symbols for each accent and integrate the work with authenticity • Explore the intonations, rhythms, inflections and vocal placement for each accent • Free your creativity and imagination to connect with your character’s voice and cultural background *Prerequisite: None This class takes place on Zoom. Students will be expected to have their camera on during class. The text book will be provided via PDF. This course is taught by award-winning Voice & Speech teacher Susan Finch. Susan Finch has been teaching voice and speech for more than 25 years. She coaches productions on Broadway (Girl from The North Country, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and Off- Broadway (The Public Theater, Signature Theater, MTC, The McCarter Theater, Red Bull) as well as for television and film. She has taught at The Juilliard School, where she is an alumna of their Drama Division. At NYU’s Atlantic Theater Acting School, as Head of the Speech Department, she created their undergraduate speech-training curriculum.
