About this Class

Self-tape auditions are the most critical presentation of an actor’s work. Industry veteran Michael Cassidy teaches this one day intensive on the art and business of auditioning. Michael will share an efficient approach to script analysis and scene work that is specific to self-tape auditioning. He will also guide students on best practices and products regarding their home studio setup. Throughout, Michael will share his unique experience on how to create a professional actor’s “business mind.” Students will be given a scene to prepare ahead of time and guidance that reflects the industry standards unique to this season. Alternatively, students can bring in a pre-made self tape for review. Scenes will be presented and worked on in class. We are keeping these workshops to 10 actors so each actor will get plenty of time to work in class. This is a six hour day with a 30 min lunch break. Students may bring a lunch (there is a fridge and a microwave) or run out to pick something up. Michael Cassidy has appeared in over 150 TV episodes, most recently in NBC’s FOUND. His film work includes the independent film BREAKING FAST, the Hallmark special JINGLE AROUND THE CLOCK, and the studio comedy DOG DAYS with Nina Dobrev and Eva Longoria. Other film credits include Zack Snyder's ARMY OF THE DEAD, the role of ‘Jimmy Olsen’ in WB’s BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, and the Academy Award winning ARGO. Michael was a series regular on TBS’s alien abduction comedy PEOPLE OF EARTH, as well as a three-season run as ‘Tyler’ on the TBS comedy MEN AT WORK.
